Math Placement Test

If your program at Humber College includes math courses, you will be required to take a Math Test. The test has two parts, an arithmetic test and an algebra test. The total of the two scores determines your placement in math courses.

If you have applied to a Business program (e.g. Accounting, Business Marketing, Business Administration), then your placement score determines where you start your math studies.

If you score less than 99 (total score) then you will begin in BMTH 010. This is a course designed to help you to improve your math skills. After you successfully complete this course, you will go on to take the required courses for your program. You may have to pay for an extra math course.

If you score between 100-139 (total score) then you will begin your studies with BMTH 100.

If you score more than 140 (total score) then you will begin your studies with BMTH 120.

If you have applied to a program in Applied Technology (e.g. Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Sustainable Energy and Building Technology, etc.), then your placement score determines where you start your math studies.

If you score less that 160 (total score) then you will begin in TMTH 010. This is a course designed to help you to improve your math skills. After you successfully complete this course, you will go on to take the required courses for your program. You may have to pay for an extra math course.

If you score more than 160 (total score) then you will begin your studies with your program math course (Technical Mathematics I).
