Part-time English Studies

To better serve part-time second-language learners, Humber offers specialized English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for general interest, college credit and two online ESL certificate programs.

General Interest ESL Courses

We also offer General Interest ESL courses both in-class and online in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and business communication.

The English Placement Test is not required for General Interest ESL Courses.

Humber College is proud to announce a new Part-Time ESL Certificate starting in 2016. Any of the General Interest ESL courses listed above can be used towards completing the ESL Certificate.

College English Courses

Students who successfully complete ESOL 100 and ESOL 200 will have satisfied their English communications requirements for all Humber College diploma programs and certificates which require these courses.

Students registering into the ESL courses listed below for the first time need to take the English Placement Test.

Full-time English Studies

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program

Study English with the English Language Centre at the Humber Lakeshore Campus

  • Eight-week curriculum designed for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their communication skills for entry to college or university
  • Twenty-two hours per week; small classes
  • Eight levels of study; six intakes: September, October, January, March, May, July
  • Optional accommodation and meal plan available
