  • Placement Testing

The English Language Centre will administer its own placement test once you arrive to determine your English level and tell you how many levels of EAP you need to study or if you can go directly into your program. Detailed testing information will be mailed to you once you have been accepted into EAP.

The following chart shows entry score requirements for each EAP level. Students are placed in an EAP level according to the lowest individual skill score on the test (not the overall score). For example, a student with an IELTS 5.5 in Speaking and Listening, a 5.0 in Reading, and a 4.5 in Writing, will be placed in EAP Level 6.

The test score is only valid if it was taken no more than 6 months before arrival to Humber.

Students who have a pre-placement may take the placement test on arrival to challenge their placement level. Students who take the EAP placement test on arrival will not be placed lower than the level on their offer letter, provided the IELTS/TOEFL test is still valid (no more than 6 months before arrival).
