This course introduces the principles of online writing, content management, and search engine optimization (SEO) for the purposes of writing for businesses, non-profit and other organizations. Students learn strategies and marketing principles on how to capture the online reader's attention, and then practise writing a variety of online forms including web landing pages, blog posts and status updates. Students are exposed to the variety of software and web tools used by digital professionals, including WordPress, Twitter, and Google Analytics. Students also consider strategic elements including audience analysis, web site accessibility, website usability, and web analytics. They also learn how to repurpose content for different online platforms.
