Instructions for Attending an Online Math Support Session Using BlackBoard Collaborate Ultra

  1. Before your appointment, make sure you have access to a computer or a device that has internet connection.
  2. When it is your appointment time, go to WCOnline and click on your appointment slot. You should see the link to Blackboard under the tutor’s bio. It should look like this:
  3. We use only the Blackboard platform so the WCOnline “START OR JOIN ONLINE CONSULTATION” button will not be used.
  4. Once you click on the link, the website will ask your name. Click on “Join Session” to join the session. The website will ask permission to use the camera and the microphone and then will show you a tutorial. Complete the tutorial.

From here, you are presented with all the tools that Blackboard Collaborate has to offer you to get the help you need.

You can chat through the chat panel, share live video through your device’s front facing camera, enable your microphone so you can speak directly to a tutor, share files like an image of the problem you are working on, and share a blank whiteboard that you can draw on with your fingers or with a digital pen (accessible through the Options panel).

It is advised that you enable your microphone to speak with a tutor as it easier to explain things orally than it is through text chat.
If you have any questions or problems throughout your session, you can ask your tutor for assistance.

Please contact us at if you have any questions.
