Virtual APA Workshop

A FREE One-hour Workshop

  • Review APA basics
  • Learn what's new in APA 7th Edition
  • Get questions answered about APA special cases

Running Weekly from February 23 to April 23 (except Reading Week)

The times will be:

  • Tuesdays at 10 AM and 1 PM
  • Fridays at 11 AM and 12 PM

All Humber and Guelph-Humber students are welcome!

To sign up, follow these steps:

  1. Register in our online booking system at www.humber.mywconline.com
  2. Select the “Writing Support Winter 2021” schedule
  3. Click on one of the APA Workshop slots (see times above)
  4. Fill out the form
  5. Click on “Create Appointment”

Academic Integrity: Avoiding Plagiarism!

A FREE One-hour Workshop

  • Why is citing sources so important?
  • When do I need to cite?
  • What is acceptable when paraphrasing?
  • What if I can’t find the original source?
  • How can I check if my work is free of plagiarism?

Online Conversation Circles

Join a tutor and several English learners for 1 hour to practice conversation and listening and speaking skills.

  • Mon - 11 AM

Book an online appointment with a tutor to talk one on one for 1 hour to practice speaking, to go over readings, to review Ted Talks and much more.

Online tutoring is available for Writing Support from Monday, January 18 until Friday, April 30.

Online writing support will be available to all Humber and Guelph-Humber students during our regular hours of operation (see our hours below).

You will also find support for your research and writing by visiting our partners in Humber Libraries and Peer Assisted Learning Support (PALS). Students can book online tutoring sessions using our WCOnline booking system.

Book An Appointment

Whether you want to work on your thesis development, essay structure, research skills, or points of grammar, our friendly staff offer personalized instruction on an appointment basis.

At the Writing Centre, we can

  • Help you start and develop your writing assignments
  • Explain how to document, structure and format your writing assignments
  • Guide you in the production of academic, business, and technical documents
  • Show you how to review marked assignments and use them as learning tools 
  • Develop your grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills 
  • Guide you in the use of APA, MLA, and other citation styles 
  • Build your confidence when facing deadlines and due dates

To book a writing tutor

  • Go to our online booking system
  • Register for an account
  • Choose the appropriate schedule and log in
  • Select an available time slot

We encourage students to schedule their appointments well in advance as available spots can go fast as the term progresses.

HeadStart is a program designed by Humber’s English Department to provide reading and writing support to future, new, and current Humber students.
