Work-Integrated Learning

Humber programs offer unique work-integrated learning opportunities to prepare students for their future careers. Students apply what they’ve learned in class and in real world environments through a wide range of academic, community and industry partnerships. These work-integrated and experiential learning opportunities may include field placements, practicums, clinical placements, co-operative education work terms, internships, applied research projects, or service learning.

Employers and Industry

Becoming part of our industry network creates immense value for all stakeholders. As employers, you will gain access to high-quality talent and training, allowing you to onboard talent to your organizations. There are many other ways in which you can also partner with Humber College to guide the learning, training and careers of our students. You can also get involved by:

  • Becoming a Program Advisory Committee member
    • Program Advisory Committees (PACs) are a vital source of feedback and ideas to ensure our programs remain relevant to the workplace and connected to employers. PACs are a key source of advice for developing our work integrated learning partners.
  • Participating in an applied research project
  • Supporting students financially through scholarships
  • Collaborating on community-focused projects

Networking & Learning Community Events

We host many events to provide students with the opportunity to explore areas of interest; learn and discuss current issues, education and career pathways; and connect with current students, future employers, and Humber alumni:

  • President’s Lecture Series
  • Educational Pathways Sessions
  • Job and Career Fairs
  • Information Sessions
  • Networking Opportunities
  • Workshops
  • Guest Speakers

Placements:

Whether it's a full-time, four-month field placement, a two-day-a-week work placement, or an in-class industry project, many of our programs incorporate field education into the curriculum.
