Data Science

Program Overview

The Data Science Certificate will help you break into the in-demand field of data science and use your analytical and problem solving skills to join a lucrative industry. Data science specialists require a unique set of skills to analyze numbers and information that supports an organization’s strategy and direction. Hone your knowledge in data sources, statistics and business framing to become a sought-after Big Data or data science professional. The series of data science courses will help you develop fundamental statistical and programming skills and help prepare you for the INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification exam.

Postsecondary education in a field related to computer science or mathematics is recommended before taking this certificate. Alternatively, students would benefit from a basic understanding of programming concepts.

There are seven courses in this program. Courses can be taken in any order except DATA 007 which must be taken last. All courses are offered through Ontario Learn. 

Career Opportunities

Jobs or career opportunities in the field of data science include data scientist, data engineer, data analyst, data manager, business analyst and careers in analytics.
