Abstract

The transition to electronic vehicles is one of governments' important strategies for addressing the current climate crisis. Opponents to this approach have raised concerns that due to other environmental costs in the e-vehicle lifecycle, financial incentives for their adoption should not be given. We assessed the environmental impact of both traditional and electric vehicles to determine whether e-vehicles are less polluting and if policy support is required for their implementation. We concluded that e-vehicles do have a smaller environmental impact but are more expensive to buy. Therefore, we recommend governmental policies to support their adoption.
