Abstract
In a world of rapidly shifting technology, cellphones are one of the greatest contributors to electronic waste (e-waste) globally. Many cellphone companies have implemented some form of e-waste management strategy. This study assessed the effectiveness of e-waste management strategies in terms of their environmental impact and the company’s public approval. We conducted a mixed-method analysis of existing literature on recycling methods, company policies regarding e-waste, and gauged public perception via social media. Based on these analyses, recommendations are made for the implementation of cellphone company strategies that will generate revenue, reduce environmental footprint, and address issues with their public perception.
