Course Benefits

Our Customized Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (i-TESOL) offers a tailored intensive professional development program for internationally trained English teachers to improve their teaching and English skills concurrently. The program will focus on practical, student-centred teaching for 21st-century language learners with an emphasis on communicative needs. Participants will gain hands-on experience in course design, application of technology, and assessment through interactive and reflective sessions.

Learners will also have opportunities to practice some micro-teaching sessions. These sessions will enable participants to collaborate with co-participants in the planning and delivery of a mini-lesson that incorporates the new skills acquired from this course as well as receive feedback on your micro-teaching session from your peers and the teacher trainer.

What You Will Learn

  • Select, adapt or design diverse material, activities, techniques, and resources with an emphasis on communicative needs for individual learning goals and courses’ objectives
  • Design a series of lessons with an awareness of different needs, learning styles, learners’ backgrounds, and previous learning experiences
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure learners’ constant interaction with and exposure to the English language and support learning effectiveness
  • Enhance course design, lesson planning, presentations, in-class activities, assessments, and student achievement and engagement within a specified context
  • Create constructive, specific, concrete, and practical feedback in the classroom
